An historic manuscript pay order dated April 4, 1788, to John Lawrence, Treasurer of the State of Connecticut, to pay BENJAMIN HUNTINGTON, State Attorney for New London County, for his services during a trial before the state Supreme Court involving a case of counterfeiting. Signed on reverse for payment received by BENJAMIN HUNTINGTON [1736-1800]. He was a lawyer and patriot, and served as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress  and later a member of the House of Represent...atives......The receipt is also signed by ANDREW KINGSBURY [1759-1837], future Treasurer of the State of Connecticut. He had served in the Revolutionary War, and as State Comptroller before becoming Treasurer, and had much to do with the sale of land grants in the Western Reserve of Ohio to war veterans.....One page, size 4 1/2" x 7 1/4", early rag paper, folds, docketed and signed on reverse, very good condition......Guaranteed original........$5.00 shipping............
