An original court warrant for the arrest of a man charged with trespass, dated New York, June 21, 1792, and docketed and signed on the reverse by MARINUS WILLETT, as Sheriff of the City of New York. Also signed by Mayor RICHARD VARICK [ probably by secretary ] and City Clerk ROBERT BENSON, , both prominent New York Revolutionary War patriots and soldiers, , .., , , MARINUS WILLETT [1740-1830] was a veteran of the French and Indian War and a leader of the Sons of Liberty in New York. He... served at the battle of Quebec, and on the New York frontier at the Battle of Oriskany. He successfully defended Fort Stanwix in the Mohawk Valley against General St. Leger, thus making possible the victory against Burgoyne at Saratoga, and was part of the Sullivan-Clinton campaign against the British Indian allies, He was later put in charge of the defense of the Mohawk Valley where he fought a number of battles against Tory forces and their Indian allies. After the war, he served as Sheriff of New York County and was an opponent of the proposed United States Constitution......Size 4 1/4" x 13 1/2"  [too large for scanner], applied embossed seal of New York, hand made rag paper, some separation at folds with archival tape repair on reverse, overall strong signature in very good condition.....A rare document signed by a Revolutionary War military hero and "Founding Father".......Guaranteed original.....$7.50 shipping............
