Up for auction is an excellent Challenge Grade Drake Bluebill made by the Mason decoy factory of Detroit, ca. 1910. The decoy is in fine original paint that shows minor wear from use including small rubs to the top of the head and end of the tail. There is slight separation at the neck seam with no filler replacement. The speculums are very strong as is the scalloping around the breast. The glass eyes are original to the decoy. The decoy appears to have had a small repai...r to the tip of the bill with touch-up to that area. There is also a filled age check in the bottom with a tight check that extends up into the breast. It also has s very tight age check on the right side of the head. All in all, this is a really fine example of the factory’s better grade decoy production. (NOTE: We are offering an equally good Hen Bluebill mate to this decoy in another auction this week. As always, we combine shipping). Measures 14-1/4” long; 5-1/2” wide; and 6-3/4” tall.
