A fine and rare c1880 Samuel Kirk silver (.917 pure) ram's head handle covered sugar bowl.
The ram handle one of the firm's most sought after designs.
Raised slender tapering ovoid form.Beautifully hand carved leaf and floral on partial satin chased surface.The cover retains the original flowering branch finial, and the original hand cut fastener below.Ram's head highlighted angu...lar double scroll handles with leaf and flower terminal.Scrolling floral center circular base.
Script EHW (?) one side only.
Hallmarked as shown, stamped deep under base, only part of it visible.
This c1880 Kirk silver (.917 pure) ram handle bowl is a bit over 9 inches tall to ram's head
and weighs 30 standard ounces.
In very fine condition.
