An original printed and manuscript completed Connecticut Revolutionary War era financial obligation bond for duty on rum, payable to JABEZ HAMLIN [1709-1791] in cash and United States Continental Loan certificates, for the use of the State. The bond is dated Middletown, April 11, 1785, and endorsed on reverse for partial payment by Hamlin..... Jabez Hamlin was a lawyer and graduate of Yale 1728, served as Colonel of Militia in the French and Indian War, was a veteran of the Revolution,... and member of the Council of Safety. He served as a Commissary for state troops, was a Superior Court judge, member of the General Assembly and Mayor of Middletown......One page, size 6 1/2" x 8 1/4", folds, early rag paper, docketed and endorsed on reverse, very good condition.......A nice rare early American financial document.......Guaranteed original.......$5.00  shipping............
