Excellent quality genuine 236 year old sterling silver example; a nice early shape decorated with attractive embossed flowers and foliage, with a scrolled silver handle and it rests on a flared circular pedestal base. Inside it has its original fully gilded interior and it has a good heavy silver weight, 75 grams. Engraved in the cartouche with a nice antique inscription with year date 1871.Measurements Measures approx 4.6 inches (117mm) in height (including handle), x 4.3 inches (110mm) wide including handle and spout.Date English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver, with a full set of silver hallmarks for London 1783 (date letter "h"). Nice readable marks, includes an early lion passant/gardant silver stamp and the crowned leopards head stamp. Pre-dates silver duty so no duty mark.Maker Silversmiths initials "I S", most probably for the silversmith Joseph Steward II - 1768 - 1783). Condition Lovely condition with no splits or cracks and no nasty knocks or dents, a very nice example and a good early date. The flared circular silver base is undamaged and it sits nice and flat. Beautifully decorated with embossed flowers and foliage and with good readable silver marks. The interior gilding is original and mostly all still intact.
