Rare and original Revolutionary War woven leather button, measuring 0.75” in diameter, taken from a dead British officer killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, the first great battle of the American Revolution. The button is accompanied with a copy of a note of provenance from 1881: “These buttons were cut from a British officer’s vest. Shot at Battle of Bunkers Hill June17th, 1775. Presented to C.F. Teed by Henry Baker Ex Sheriff of Chemung Cou, Chemung, N.Y. Apr. 25, 1881.”
