An original and historic printed and manuscript completed bond and license for John Galloway to keep an orderly tavern in his dwelling house in the City of New York, dated March 1, 1792, and signed by Mayor RICHARD VARICK [1753-1831].......He was an American lawyer and politician who served in the Continental Army with General Schuyler until the Battle of Saratoga, when he was appointed Inspector General of West Point. He became an aide to General Benedict Arnold, and after the treason... was private Secretary to General Washington until the end of the war. He later served as Attorney General of New York, and as Mayor of the City of New York 1789-1801. He was a charter member of the Society of the Cincinnati........
