July 8th, 1776- guns & bayonets in short supply are being priced from individuals. Dated just four days after the Declaration of Independence July 8th, 1776- guns and bayonets in short supply are being priced from individuals.Signed by Capt. Phinehas Strong-recorded as 6 feet 2 inches tall, 235 lbs and very strong. “Once during the Revolutionary War he was chased by some British cavalry soldiers and stopped to put up some bars that were down in order to hinder them and ...heard one of them say-he was so near-‘he might have killed that cuss as well as not, but he hated to see the great long fellow die.’ “Signed also by William Grant- a sergeant from East Windsor, CT. Marched on the Lexington alarm and serves throughout the war. At Fort Griswald in 1779 and as a marine on the ship “Tartar” in 1782.No reserve.
