Made in Germany between 1941-43. This beautiful pen is made of sumptuous Jet Black High Gloss Celluloid throughout. ALL parts are Celluloid. These were the 1st 136 to be made entirely of celluloid. Even the Piston housing and Blind Cap. Very rare Celluloid Piston Housing has D.R.P. 652405 imprint. After 1...945 this imprint was no longer used. Before 1941 these were made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber). So this pen will ALWAYS be Jet Black. Zero oxidation issues unlike earlier 136. This pen has ZERO cracks, splits or repairs etc. 1st issue short Amber see through window is the cleanest you will ever see.
The unique Cap has a Long Body Short Top. However it is the exact same size as the earlier Cap type. This is also 1st issue of its type. I adore this pens Tie style Gold Clip. These are size 8 clips because of the cylinder un-tapered cap design. Montblanc quickly ran out of 138 Clips and so only a few of these 136 got these tie Clips. My favorite Clip. The cap also has UNIQUE imprints instead of Gold Ring Bands. This was due to a Gold Ban in Germany during the War on any manufacture that was not military goods. Montbalnc was farced to improvise and this sensational cap design is what they came up with. My favorite cap of ANY 136. The Imprints are DEEP as NEW never been polished. The nib this pen was issued with was made of Steel because of the Gold ban. Those nibs are vastly inferior to 14C nibs. They suffer metal corrosion. I replaced that nib with a 14C post war nib. Fine line Full Flex. An upgrade of the highest order. EXACT same size nib and feed. Indeed the very moment Montblanc could make Gold nibs again it was this exact nib they made and fitted to models 136 and 146 first issues. In my opinion these are the finest nibs Montblanc EVER made. Ultra creative nibs. The nibs have the unique central shaded (M) logo. Dates 1945-52 ONLY. Fabulous pen.
The Barrel has perfect Black Celluloid as new. Never polished. Rare to find so clean and untouched. These barrels are an Amber see through tube that is then thinly dipped in Black celluloid. With age, handling and polishing etc these barrels start to loose their perfect Jet Black outer layer and start showing their Red inner colour. Wonderful to find a perfect Black example. This is how they left the factory when new. You will not find a cleaner example. I also adore its Amber colour Star Logo Cap Top. Fabulous patina star. 1st issue Celluloid star has aged like no other you will see again. Simply Stunning. This pen is worth breaking the bank for...
