Featured in this auction is a Revolutionary War / Colonial America era Soapstone Ink Well. It has seen good honest use. It has a couple of chips to the ink well edge, however is still functional today. Coloring is modeled, however it has a wonderful grey green patina common to these early American Ink Wells. The British during this same era had pewter Ink wells. These Soapstone Ink Wells were quite common in daily Colonial life. It has (4) dipping holes, one at each corner, to acc...ommodate (4) different quill tip sizes. Please ask questions.
