DAVID ANDERSON (April9, 1764-April 26, 1836) was born in Halifax County, VA. At an early age, hemoved with his father to South Carolina, settling in Laurens District. Duringthe American Revolution, he served in the militia as a substitute for variouspersons.  He returned from the war andestablished residence near the Saluda River. Through land grants, he received 1, 189 acres in Laurens District.  At his death, his estate was valued at $15, 193and included 23 slaves.&nbs...p; Public servicebegan for Anderson in 1787 when he was appointed sheriff of Laurens County. Healso served as a commissioner for the opening navigation of the Saluda Riverand he represented Laurens in the Thirteenth General Assembly.  During the nullification crisis, he was aUnionist.  HUGH SAXON residedin Laurens District prior to the Revolutionary War and much of his service wasdone in North Carolina, Virginia and at Yorktown when Cornwallissurrendered.  Saxon, according to his son’sfiling for his pension, lost considerable property in South Carolina during thewar. ALLEN BARKSDALEwas a planter, sheriff and a member of the legislature. All three have signed this2pp, 8 ¼ x 13, March 15, 1839, bond on the estate of Allen Saxon, deceased.  Research included. Light toning, folds, normal wear.
