RARE ORIG REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA AMERICAN SOLDIER ' S 26 " SWORD INLAID HORN HANDLE

Item History & Price

Information:
Reference Number: Avaluer:63122
Original Description:
This is a very early Revolutionary war american sword, it is of iron construction and is very detailed. It has inlaid brass handle work and remnants of what looks like an engraving. It has a great, heavy patina along both the blade and handle. Overall, it is in a absolutely superb condition for being an American Revolutionary War Sword constructed with iron. Local American blacksmiths during the Revolution made do with the materials they had and they didn’t always have access to hard...er metals like steel like the British did. Despite this fact, the sword is still extremely detailed and embellished. I think with the right display case this sword would make an absolutely awesome centerpiece to a collection. Don’t pass up, it is very infrequent to find iron swords detailed to this caliber and of such a complete, intact condition. I’m only asking 500 dollars but I could easily see a homemade blacksmith sword from the Revolution like this one going for 1000 or more. 200 years ago a continental soldier took this sword to battle and trusted it with his life. This is truly an exceptional piece of history from the American Revolution and I'm happy to pass it on. Shipping is free through priority mail.
