Reference Number: Avaluer:15824482 |
In the glad morn of blooming you...thThe various threads I drewAnd pleased beheld the finished pieceRise glowing to the viewThus when bright youth shall charm no moreAnd age hath chilled my bloodMay I review my life and sayBehold my works were good
The lower section of the gauze is stitched with a central tree which has a basket to its left and right, a floral motif and tree to the side of each, then the whole piece is surrounded by a zigzag border. The gauze has overall discolouration consistent with its age, slightly darker in places with the odd small stain and the colours the thread are good. The last photo is of the reverse of the sampler and indicates how the colours would have looked when Hannah first stitched it.Measures 12 1/4" x 12 1/4"
