Jan. 17, 1807 Strafford Co. New Hampshire document regarding land and money owed to Revolutionary War officer Thomas Tash Sr. It reads in part; “About six or eight years ago....I waited on Col. Thos. Tash, John Mason, and Josiah Edgerly at the house of the latter to draw for them several deeds and a bond......Mason and Edgerly sold the said lot no. 42.....for about $300 but I never could learn that they ever discharged demands against sd. Tash to anything like that amount, so that I ...believe he made a miserable bargain.” It goes on to state that “a while after when happening to see Col. Tash, I asked him if he had acknowledged the aforesaid deed....he said yes, I enquirerd if he had gotten his bond he replied no......sometimes the said Tash would speak about the said bond as though he was offended pretty highly at the said Edgerly’s withholding the same.” Signed by Thomas Tash Jr. (b. 1763) Son of Thomas Tash Sr. (1722-1809) who served in the New Hampshire militia during the Revolutionary War and rose to the rank of Colonel.
