A manuscript letter dated Cleveland [Ohio], September 5, 1816 to General Joseph Whiton in Lee, Massachusetts, regarding the quality and value of lands he was trying to sell in the Connecticut Western Reserve in Ohio, land set aside for Revolutionary War veterans....JOSEPH WHITON [1759-1828] served in the Connecticut Line of the Continental Army during the Revolution, before moving to Massachusetts after the war. He later served in the Massachusetts legislature and was appointed a Gener...al of Militia in the War of 1812. His farm lands in the Western Reserve were later called Amherst, Ohio ....Two pages plus integral address sheet, size 7 3/4" x 12 1/2" [shown in two parts], early rag paper, folds, docketed on reverse, very good condition........Guaranteed original........$5.00  shipping............
