Original Description:
Offered in this Buy-it-Now sale is a c.1770-1790 Rifleman's Patch Knife.  These crude, typically handmade knives were used by rifleman to cut the cloth or leather patch wrapped around a bullet when loading.  They sometimes did, but usually didn't have a sheath as they were simply worn behind a sling and pressed up against a shirt for ease and quick access.  Blade is hand forged and inset to a piece of hardwood oak.
