An original Revolutionary War manuscript receipt dated May 8, 1778, and signed by John Waite for his bounty of 100 Pounds for enlistment in the Continental Army. The payment was received from the Selectmen of the Town of Ipswich, Massachusetts, "Committee to Hire Soldiers", to serve for nine months from the date of his enlistment......Written on the reverse is another receipt, dated June 9, 1778 and signed by two soldiers, John Means [?] and Phineas Beedy [?] for their bounty, and an a...dditional five pounds each for their mileage. ....Size 3 1/2" x 8 1/4", folds, handmade rag paper, very good condition, .....Guaranteed original, a fine Revolutionary War document for your collection.......$5.00 shipping............
