An historic manuscript document dividing a grant of 555 acres of land in the Virginia military District in the State of Ohio [Western Reserve], between the heirs of James Pendleton and his partner JAMES TAYLOR JR. [1769-1848], written in Taylor's hand and dated May 4, 1820. Needs further research.....James Taylor Jr. was born in Virginia and came at an early age in 1792 to develop land owned by his father in the newly settled state of Kentucky. He eventually became one of the wealthies...t early settlers, and was founder of the city of Newport as well as a land speculator purchasing grants of land from Revolutionary War veterans. He served as Quartermaster General and Paymaster of the Northwestern Army during the War of 1812, and was a businessman and banker.....One page, size 7 1/2" x 9 1/2", early rag paper, folds with archival tape repairs on reverse, docketed on reverse, good condition.....An interesting document written by a famous early settler of the Northwest Territory.......Guaranteed original........$5.00 shipping............
